Q.  I just received a tax assessment for my dock, is this normal?

A. Yes, the lake is Crown Land and it is normal for your dock to be assessed separately from your private property.

Q. What are my riparian rights as a waterfront owner.

A, Many thanks to Josh Smienk for passing on this great link which includes all kinds of riparian information, http://www.obwb.ca/fileadmin/docs/riparian_regulations_BC_Gov.pdf

Q. Where can I get help with my government application for a proposed large dock?

A. Front Counter BC in Cranbrookhttp://www.frontcounterbc.gov.bc.ca/

Q What is an accretion and can I get one for my waterfront property?

A. We asked some of our members who have gone through the accretion process, they tell us that an accretion is when you add (accrete) part of crown land to your property. The accreted land is the area along the shoreline that was once the high water mark, now to the current natural boundary. After the surveying and registering at land titles office, the accreted land becomes part of your lot. It can be a confusing topic, some properties are eligible while others are not. To find out if your waterfront property is eligible for an accretion or for more information on this topic contact:
